The magic of single skin paragliders and mountain flying in one course

This beginners course in single surface paragliding will allow you to discover and start mountain flying with the help of these fantastic little wings that are compact, light and so easy to use.

Rock climbing, ice-climbing, alpinism, running and hiking in the mountains are great activities... but sometimes the descent can become something difficult and unenjoyable for the legs and back. At Alpwind we have the perfect combo for outdoor lovers who want to skip this physically traumatic part and turn it into a pleasurable and fun experience. Our instructors, certified pilots and mountain guides will offer you one of the most amazing paragliding courses worldwide: the single skin course. You will learn to fly your paraglider and once airborn, how to use it in the mountains as a tool for mountain travel. This course is aimed at anyone who wishes to learn to fly a paraglider. There is no need for any previous paragliding experience and best if you practice one of the other sports.

Philosophy

Alpwind is an (EFVL) French Free Flying School affiliated to the French Federation of Free Flight (FFVL) Fédération Française de Vol Libre (FFVL).

The initiation course is aimed at beginners who are new to flight but also to the paraglider wishing to discover these single surface wings and their piloting. A discovery of free flight, without necessarily going via a tandem flight.

The uniqueness of this single skin paragliding course lies in the spirit for which it was created. With the light and low volume of material in these wings, weight is no longer a problem and enables pilots to hike to reach high altitude sites. It will therefore be necessary to accept to walk a little and be in good shape.

There is no maximum age and teenagers are accepted from 16 years old. You will need a medical certificate stating "no contraindications to the practice of paragliding" which will be essential for the paragliding licence subscription.

You will need to hike to access wild take-offs and if the weather permits, the level of participants allows and if you feel like it, maybe you will be able to fly above 3500m in the majestic setting of the Mont-Blanc massif and benefit from the supervision of a high mountain guide for this mountaineering section.

Why the cost of this course? We are convinced that quality is paramount in the training of future pilots. Yes you might find courses cheaper elsewhere but what you will only find at Alpwind is such comprehensive content including unique teaching materials, full days of training with two instructors, allowing us to ensure the safest learning base for your future as a pilot using latest generation new or almost new equipment. We have passionate instructors with real mountain experience with double diplomas (paragliding instructor and high mountain guide or mountain leader) and it is this abundance of mountain knowledge which is the special strength of our school giving you a maximum of skills in mountain flying, which you will not find elsewhere.
